Register for Bulldog Days

Three very special days

Bulldog Days is Yale’s signature admitted student program. The three-day, two-night program is packed with events and opportunities to connect with current students and future classmates: campus tours, receptions, student group performances, sample classes, undergraduate organization meetings, an academic and extracurricular fair, and plenty of time to explore Yale on your own. Bulldog Days attendees may stay overnight in a residential college suite with a friend or an assigned student host.

The registration deadline is Tuesday, April 14. The deadline to request an on-campus student host is Sunday, April 12.

The Details

More information and a complete Bulldog Days schedule will be available on the Admitted Students Events Portal in the days leading up to the program.

Official Bulldog Days programming begins at 1pm on Monday and ends at 1pm on Wednesday. Students may arrive late or leave early; there is no check out. Registration on Old Campus will remain open until 11pm Monday and Tuesday.

Students may arrive early or depart later, but the admissions office is unable to arrange for additional overnight hosting or meals. Please note that the Admissions Office will not be able to store luggage after 2pm Wednesday.

All Bulldog Days attendees are welcome to request a student host who will welcome you to stay in their residential college suite. If you request a host while registering, we will email you their contact information a few days before Bulldog Days. Admitted students may also stay overnight with a friend. Include the friend’s name and contact information when registering.

The admissions office is only able to host students through our hosting program on Monday and Tuesday nights. Please make alternative arrangements if you are arriving to town a day or two earlier or later.

Admitted students are encouraged to attend classes during Bulldog Days and will receive a list of recommended open classes to sit in on. Select professors will also be offering special Master Class sample lectures just for admitted students throughout the program.

You should bring a sleeping bag and pillow, casual clothes for spring (it may rain or get chilly, so a sweater or light jacket is also recommended), and a cell phone. Please pack enough essential items (medication, toiletries, etc.) for the duration of your time away from home. Visitors may store belongings at Dwight Hall on Old Campus 1pm - 11pm on Monday and 8am - 1pm Wednesday.

Safety is our number one priority during Bulldog Days. At registration students will receive emergency contact phone numbers and information about the Yale Health Center, located at 55 Lock Street, and the Yale New Haven Hospital. It is critical that all students complete the Bulldog Days medical form when registering for Bulldog Days online. Students will have access to this information throughout the program and will need it to be treated on campus.

Bulldog Days is designed to help admitted students get a taste of the college experience, and  most visiting students attend without family members. A limited program of campus tours and informational panels will be available for those family members who travel to New Haven for Bulldog Days, but the events listed on the tentative Bulldog Days schedule are for students only.

Professors from most academic departments will be available to answer your questions at the Academic Fair on Tuesday afternoon. For general inquiries about an academic department or major, we recommend contacting the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS). You may also email a specific professor using the Yale Directory.

Financial aid officers will be available to meet with students and families in Dwight Hall on Old Campus throughout Bulldog Days. The Office of Undergraduate Financial Aid, located at  (246 Church St) will be open for regular business hours. Students and parents are also invited to a Financial Aid Panel Wednesday morning.

Eligibility for the admissions office’s Yale Travel Program is based on financial need, and a completed Yale financial aid award is needed to determine eligibility. Travel must be from within the United States. Please contact the Yale Travel Team at yaletravelprogram@gmail.com with questions. QuestBridge Finalists and other admitted students with a Yale financial aid offer that includes a parent share below $10,000 are eligible, if they will be traveling from within the United States.

Eligible students will receive email invitations on a rolling basis after their financial aid package becomes complete. The admissions office cannot reimburse the cost of flights or long-distance train tickets booked by students or families on their own, and travel assistance is not available for accompanying family members.

Admitted students will receive meal cards for dining hall access for all meals not provided by the admissions office. Meals planned by the admissions office include the New Haven Pizza Party on Monday night, lunch in the Schwarzman Center on Tuesday, and the Food Truck Farewell Lunch on Wednesday. You may want to bring $30-$40 to explore New Haven’s famous restaurants or the Yale Bookstore, but spending money is not required.
