Letters of recommendation
Request letters of recommendation from two instructors who have taught you in credit-bearing courses on a college campus. Letters should be submitted through the Common Application. Letters from others (such as research mentors or supervisors) are supplemental and will not fulfill the academic evaluation requirement. Supplemental letters should be mailed to the undergraduate admissions office or emailed to transfer.documents@yale.edu.
Official transcripts
Your application must include official college transcripts from all postsecondary institutions attended. Transcripts should be sent directly from the colleges/universities through the Common Application, Parchment, or mailed to the undergraduate admissions office. Applicants may also request a transcript through the National Student Clearinghouse. If requested, provide your college’s registrar with transfer.documents@yale.edu for digital transfer.
Transfer applications include a complete official high school transcript, including graduation date. Your high school counselor or registrar may mail an official hard copy to the undergraduate admissions office or email an official digital copy to transfer.documents@yale.edu.
The Common Application College Report
Ask a college official who has access to your full academic and disciplinary record—such as your Dean, Adviser or Registrar—to complete the College Report, digitally or in hard copy. The official completing the form should mail the completed form to the undergraduate admissions office or email it to transfer.documents@yale.edu.
The Common Application Transfer Mid-term Report
If you are currently enrolled in college coursework, download and complete the Mid-term Report with your current courses, grades, and professor contact information. Mail the completed form to the undergraduate admissions office or email it to transfer.documents@yale.edu.
Standardized test results
When completing the application, self-report scores from one or more of the following exams: ACT, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or SAT on the application and respond to the Yale-specific question regarding which scores you want considered.
If you are a non-native English-speaker graduating from secondary school where English is not the language of instruction, also submit results from an English proficiency test.
