Description

In the winter of 1967 Yale President Kingman Brewster, in a letter to Director of Admissions John Muyskens Jr., outlined his vision of the most important factors that the Admissions Committee should consider in evaluating applicants to Yale. The letter preceded coeducation at Yale and was not intended to account for changing demographic trends. However, the framework for the review that was expressed in President Brewster’s letter continues to serve as a foundation for the selection process at Yale.
