Fall term: May 1
Spring term: October 1

Required Application Materials

All applicants to the Non-Degree Students Program must submit the Non-Degree Student Application along with a non-refundable $80 application fee.

Applicants Who Have Not Yet Attended College:

If you have not previously attended college, your application must include your official high school transcript, three letters of recommendation, and any standardized testing you have taken.  Please read the section below on Standardized Testing regarding testing requirements.

Applicants Currently Enrolled in College:

If you are currently enrolled in college, your application must include your official high school and college transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and any standardized testing you have taken. Two of the letters should be from college instructors while the third letter must be from your academic dean. The dean’s letter should grant permission for the course of study the applicant wishes to undertake and should indicate the semester or year during which the applicant plans to be at Yale.  Please read the section below on Standardized Testing regarding testing requirements.

Applicants Who Hold a College Degree:

If you have already graduated from college, your application must include your official college transcript(s) and three letters of recommendation. You do not need to submit your high school transcript.

Standardized Testing

Yale does not strictly require that you take any standardized test for the non-degree students program, but we do strongly recommend that you take the SAT Reasoning Test (CEEB code #3987) or ACT test (code #0618). Please have the relevant testing agency or agencies send an official score report to the undergraduate admissions office. In the alternative, Yale will accept reports of your standardized test results printed on your official high school transcript.

English Proficiency

If English is not your first language, please view Testing for Non-Native Speakers for information about language proficiency requirements at Yale.
