Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How will Trinity, Wesleyan, and Yale select Connecticut Counselor Tour participants?
A: Trinity, Wesleyan, and Yale admissions representatives will review all applications for the Connecticut Counselor Tour following the May 23 deadline. To ensure a broad variety of community-based and college-access organizations are represented, only one counselor per organization may attend. Selected participants will be notified mid-June.

Q: Is it possible to leave the Connecticut Counselor Tour early or extend a stay beyond September 25-27?
A:  Selected participants will be expected to join all scheduled events on Thursday, September 25 through Saturday, September 27. Saturday’s schedule will center on the Multicultural Open House, which is open to the public. Participants may opt to arrive earlier or leave later but will need to share arrival and departure details when accepting their invitation. Trinity, Wesleyan, and Yale will cover reasonable transportation costs associated with an early arrival or later departure, but participants will be responsible for any additional lodging and meal costs.

Q: What are the housing accommodations for selected participants?
A: The Connecticut Counselor Tour Program accommodations will be single rooms in a New Haven hotel.

Q: What is the Connecticut Counselor Tour agenda?
A: The program begins with a welcome dinner on Thursday followed by a half day on Wesleyan’s campus, and a half day on Trinity’s campus on Friday. Participants will then participate in Multicultural Open House (MOH) programming on Saturday at Yale. The program will conclude early Saturday evening.

Q: Will I have time to meet up with my former students who attend Trinity, Wesleyan, or Yale?
A: Yes. The Connecticut Counselor Tour Program will include unstructured time to connect with current students and explore our campuses.

Q: Are independent counselors eligible to participate in the Connecticut Counselor Tour Program?
A: No. The Connecticut Counselor Tour Program is limited to counselors working with community-based and college access organizations serving students who have been historically underrepresented in higher education.

Q: Will Trinity, Wesleyan, and Yale accommodate dietary restrictions or other accessibility needs?
A: Yes. Selected participants will be invited to share details of dietary restrictions, food allergies and other accessibility needs prior to booking transportation.
