7 Pictures for My First 70 Days at Yale

A few days ago marked my 70th day at Yale meaning I have officially been here for 10 weeks. Over this span of time, much has happened and sometimes it feels like I’ve already been here for years because of how many new experiences I’ve had every week and every day. In an effort to quantify these experiences, I recently reflected on some of the snapshots I have from life from the past ten weeks. Each picture represents a small slice of my Yale experience so far.

This is a photo from one of my first days of class at Yale. When taking this I was sitting in the balcony of an auditorium in Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona Hall for my Introduction to Psychology class. As a prospective psychology major, this has been one of my favorite classes this semester, plus the lecture hall is pretty incredible.

My first ever Yale football game. Even though it was extremely hot, experiencing the Yale Bowl for the first time was really exciting and it was great preparation for the Harvard-Yale game.

The Morse College courtyard during Italian Night. This is an annual tradition in Morse in which the courtyard is decorated like an Italian Villa and we eat gelato, espresso, and biscotti as an homage to the fact that our college was designed to look like the medieval Italian hill town of San Gimignano.

A photo of the Beinecke Library, our rare book and manuscript library. I took a guided tour of the space and it is one of the most gorgeous places on campus.

This is from a trip I took to the Yale Farm with my French class. As someone who grew up around lots of rural farmland, the urban farm that Yale hosts right on its campus was a fascinating contrast for me.

One of my most recent photos, this is the inside of Woolsey Hall, our big concert venue on campus. This was from the Yale Symphony Orchestra’s Halloween show which is one of the most anticipated events of Halloween at Yale. The building is absolutely gorgeous as was the music!

While I can recognize that I have already experienced so much, I know that these seven snapshots are the first of many more. From my first formal dinner in my residential college to experiencing a world class symphony orchestra, my first ten weeks at Yale have been incredible.
