Ezra Stiles’ Medieval (K)night

Ezra Stiles, one of Yale’s twelve residential colleges, recently had its famous annual Medieval (K)night! It was an absolute blast, even though this is my third year participating in the festivities. Hand-painted Ezra Stiles shields, viking hats and weapons piled in the center of the dining Hall.

Medieval (K)night starts off with the epic pig roast. Many Stilesians (what Yalies in Stiles call themselves) get together on Friday night for a pig roast in the courtyard, along with the roasting of marshmallows for s’mores. On Saturday, we have a Renaissance themed dinner in the dining hall for all Stilesians. It is an epic feast complete with magic, music, and a live rendition of Beowulf. Afterwards, we have a pump-up session in the courtyard with an inflatable gladiator pit ready for battle.

The most memorable part of Medieval (K)night is our raid of the other residential colleges to prove our dominance. Over three hundred proud Stilesians run to each residential college, and we do really silly things like throw toilet paper over the buildings and on the trees. Medieval (K)night was a rousing success. The weather was awesome, and the food was great. Medieval (K)night reminds me how much I love being a part of my Stiles family!
