The bi-annual (once every two years!) Timothy Dwight College (TD) ski trip finally came around again. It was definitely an incredibly long wait after my disappointment at missing the chance 2 years ago. My sophomore year, luck was not on my side as I missed the lottery for the ski trip. But as a senior, I got priority so my friends and I were able to enjoy this classic winter time festivity.
The ski trip to Mt. Snow in Vermont is a classic tradition at Yale hosted by each residential college that sponsors students for a day trip. Certain colleges with more funds allocated to this event go annually, but TD has consistently gone every other year. All rental equipment (and lessons if needed desperately) are covered, so the only things to bring were waterproof pants, warm clothing, goggles, and a happy attitude!
Sleepy bus ride
The trip started at 5AM where 50 lucky students gathered outside TD for the 3 hour bus ride to Vermont. The TD’s College Council, Mott Wooley, organized the trip and passed out an assortment of yummy snacks for breakfast. Most people snoozed away in their seats until we were almost there.
Once there, we picked up our rental gear and headed to the slopes! It was a great experience to accessibly ski with your friends.
For lunch, TD gathered in the lounge and ate packed lunches from the dining hall. The sandwiches were such a welcome treat after sweating for 3 hours. After lunch, people departed again to the mountains.
Yum Belgian Waffle
Around 4pm, my friend (and fellow blogger Bernice ;)) got tired and retreated to the Waffle Cabin for a warm snack to beat the setting sun and freezing winds. Then, we hopped back on the bus and made our way back to school!
