The Met Gala - Yale Version

Hanging out at Yale Center for British Art

Everyone knows the Met Gala is an annual event held at the Met. What most people don’t know is that Yale held a reception event for undergraduates at the Yale Center for British Art before the museum closes for renovations in February, hence, New Haven’s Met Gala.

As a last hurrah before the museum is closed for building conservation, the Yale College Council organized a night at the museum event with food and drinks as undergraduate students got one last chance to visit the Yale Center for British Art and explore all it has to offer.

First up was the exquisite red carpet and lush table welcoming all the VIP guests at the entrance.

Then, students milled around the entrance hall to mingle, grabbing a bite and a sip to enjoy the ambiance of the venue.

After entering the museum itself (no food or drink inside per museum protocol), so many entertainment options were available ranging from photo booth pop-ups, guided tours, and a cappella performances.

To escape the crowd, I immediately grabbed my friends and headed towards my favorite room in the museum where the walls are filled with paintings, leading to a very good picture backdrop as well as a fun time reading the picture descriptions.

Overall, I had a great night enjoying the atmosphere at the gallery. Now, for all the Bulldogs out there wondering if you’ll get a chance to see the Yale Center for British Art, don’t worry because the museum will be ready to welcome you in 2024.
