New Haven’s Union Station is one of America’s busiest passenger rail stations, with dozens of daily departures and arrivals. 

For visitors traveling from anywhere between Washington, DC and Boston, an Amtrak train to Union Station (NHV) or a local train — Metro-North, Shoreline East, CTrail — to Union Station or the State Street Station is typically the most convenient option.

• Metro-North Railroad in Manhattan, which offers regular departures on the New Haven Line (no reservations required) from Grand Central Terminal in midtown and the Harlem/125th St Station.

Approximately 95 miles from campus, served by all major airlines, domestic and international flights  

• Amtrak’s Northeast Regional Line (reservations required), provides direct service between EWR and New Haven’s Union Station. Use the EWR AirTrain to travel between the terminal and the rail station. Travel time is 2.5 - 3 hours.
• Newark Airport Express bus (reservations recommended) to Grand Central Terminal and the Metro-North Railroad, which offers regular departures on the New Haven Line (no reservations required).

New Haven’s small local airport is served by Avelo Airlines and Breeze Airlines, which offer low-cost direct flights to several cities in the Southeast and Midwest. Daily flights are only available for some destinations and some flight schedules will not align with Bulldog Days dates Lyft is the most convenient way to make the 15-minute journey between Tweed Airport and the Yale campus.

New Haven’s Union Station is also a terminal for Greyhound and Peter Pan bus lines.
